Several years ago, I asked the congregation to
resolve to refuse to participate in the summer
slump. As summer vacations wind down, the start
of regular activities, and the start of school,
I look back over the past couple of months and
see a flurry of activity at Mount Hermon.
Confirmation camp saw a record number of youth
participate from our congregation, Vacation
Bible School once again delivered as an
opportunity for ALL the congregation to
participate and contribute, which so many did.
There have been several opportunities to care
for our families and beyond our doors. Our Food
Pantry is still meeting the needs of our
community. Our choir and handbells
enthusiastically
started regular rehearsals EARLY without even
being asked!
Ahead this month is the Blessing of the
Backpacks, a Congregational Picnic, Sunday
School Rally Day, the start of a Young Adult
Group and Sunday School Class at Mount Hermon,
and one more History Night as we gear up for our
Anniversary Celebration.
There is definitely a spirit of momentum,
enthusiasm, and energy in the air at Mount
Hermon. It all comes from the Holy Spirit who
can make all things new!
The Mount Hermon WELCA is collecting school
supplies this month. There will be collection
containers in the office/education wing.
Supplies collected will go toward a needy school
in the district.
Beginning this Saturday, my family and I are
leaving for a week of vacation. Please call the
church office during the week or
Congregational President Terry Swygert in the
evenings or at other times should there needs.
