God, my Friend, Your mark is on me. Far more
deeply ingrained than Cain’s. Your name is
branded into my soul. The breath of Your life
is in me. Amen. |

Jesus told his friends, “Let your kindness be so
unobtrusive even your own left hand can’t be
quiet sure what your right is palming off. If it
is a gift, let it go with your full heart, not
worrying how worthily it is spent. Trumpeted
kindness deludes no one but oneself. Surely not
God. When you
pray, find a place apart to be with Abba alone,
without approving witnesses to say, ‘How holy!’
And when you do penance, let your manifest joy
deceive them all!” Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18

Angels have constructed Lenten crosses to be
placed in your yard. If you did not get one last
night at Shrove Tuesday supper, please pick one
up tonight at the Ash Wednesday service or this
Sunday at worship. |
