NETWORK OF GIFTS
“Be who you are in fresh ways” |

“Who is good at…? We
need help with… I wonder who has time to…” |
|
|
If you’ve ever lead or
helped with a project at church, it’s a
challenge to match skills with the job at hand.
Many times, “the usual” crowd will jump in out
of obligation and duty, but later we find out
that someone else had the skills, the desire,
and the time to help. In recent years, many
churches are not having committees and boards do
all the “heavy lifting” as far as
projects go, but have short-term teams of folks
come together for a certain project, and then be
done. This model is much more helpful with our
busy lifestyles.
In this tough economy, corporate sized and mega
churches are letting go staff that are
specialized in certain areas. Our congregation,
like so many others, is feeling the financial
crunch, but through the years Mount Hermon has
had a strong volunteer base and if we want to
grow with programs and
projects that network of gifts needs to continue
to flourish. One goal we have this year is to
actually develop a database where we can list
your gifts and talents and have them available
for the congregation to raise up new ideas.
This is not a time for us to be timid and shy.
PLEASE be available to your Lord and your
church. Let us know your ideas, your gifts, and
your availability. A new ministry idea may be
out there waiting for a chance to be born. Our
leaders can have the confidence to ask (and keep
asking) for new faces to work with us as we
Celebrate Christ Together!
Speaking of asking… we will be having chancel
dramas for our mid-week Lenten services in
March. Please let me know if you would be
available and willing to take a part. These
dramas do not build on each other, so you do not
need to be in everyone and no memorization is
required.
It is with thanksgiving to God for the gift of
new life we rejoice at the birth of Spencer
Edward Price, son of Joel and Devona at 5:25
p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. Spencer weighed in at
7.18 lbs and is 21 ¼ inches long. Mother,
baby, father and big brother Jackson are doing
well. We pray God’s blessings on them as they
rejoice in his gifts in their lives. |
