AUGUST WOMEN OF THE ELCA ARTICLE
by Jean Shealy
Highlights from our State WELCA
Convention, June 26-27, St Stephens Lutheran Church,
Lexington
Harriette Derrick and Daryl Leigh Anthony served as Mt.
Hermon’s delegates and will give a more detailed report at
our October general meeting. Marie Kleckley, Mary Frances
Sease and I attended as visitors. The total attendance
including delegates, visitors, board and guests was 275.
Convention offering was $4,214 and Thankoffering was
$13,329.45, with total offerings in the amount of
$17,543.45. Over 13,000 bingo prizes were piled high along
the wall of St. Stephens’ gymnasium. It was great to see so
many women gathered to celebrate our WELCA ministry.
SUMMER
OUTREACH
Our Growth Committee is working to
establish a "visit-date" with Lexington-Richland Alcohol and
Drug Abuse Center’s Women’s Community Residence. No date has
been set at this time. Watch your Sunday Worship Bulletin
for more details. This will be a new experience for us and
should be a very rewarding and fulfilling project.
